The morning after the game Ginger headed back down to the Cafeteria to find something to eat. "Looks like no one else has come down." she thought to herself, "Or they already left." It was mid-morning and she didn't yet know the other teams or even her own team very well, much less their personal schedules. After walking the buffet line and deciding on a large plate of bacon piled high and some black coffee she surveyed the empty room.
"Seems a little ridiculous sitting alone in a cafeteria that can hold a hundred..."
An open set of double doors off to the side caught her eye, she had not noticed them the day before and made her way over. Inside she found a small set of shelves with some worn books, some comfortable couches and armchairs and a few smaller tables. Presumably it was used as a faculty lounge or dining area but at the moment it was empty and Ginger made herself at home. Setting her coffee and bacon down on a coffee table in front of the couch, Ginger picked through the books settling on a novel whose cover was missing but looked well worn enough to hold promise.
Sitting down, she kicked her feet up on the coffee table and waited to see if anyone else would find their way to the cafeteria. "Walltur is a big guy, maybe he'll show. A guy like that must need to eat a dozen times a day." she thought to herself before picking up a piece of bacon to chew on as she began to read.

Not a few minutes more, Walltur did make an appearance. He seemed in a slightly dour mood, as if the world around him didn't really extend beyond five feet from himself. Making his way to the cafeteria line, he looked down at the lunch lady, giving a small sigh.
"Eggs."
After a few seconds of awkward silence, the lunch lady shrugged her shoulders and started scooping scrambled eggs onto a plate. After being handed the plate, Walltur nods his head, looking at her expectantly.
The large man took a seat at an empty table with three plates of eggs and a large glass of orange juice. After a light bit of salt, he slowly worked at his meal. While eating he drew out his notebook, popping it in front of him to a blank page. He began to draw as he ate, being careful not to have any food touch the page. Anyone looking can see the stress in his eyes begin to fade, his broad shoulders relaxing. Immersed in his past time, Walltur had yet to notice he wasn't alone in the room...

Mo walked into the lounge and immediately beelined for the food. There wasn't much that was within shouting distance of his diet plan and he sighed heavily before picking up a single banana. Waltur and Ginger were in the room and he waved to Waltur and sat by the pair of them. "How's it hanging, Waltur? What's good, O Captain my Captain," he greeted, shoving approximately half a banana in his face before sitting down and taking in the room. "There's, like, a lot more shit in here than I thought. Books and shit like that."

Ginger was surprised that Mo hadn't alarmed Walltur with his entrance. Giving him a playful salute and grin she stood up and walked over to Walltur, careful to stand behind him but giving him enough distance not to invade his privacy as he worked. "Nothing worse than someone peeking over your shoulder..." she thought. He seemed lost in thought which appealed to her. Some of the other players were loud and brash enough to make Ginger prickle at the thought of getting to know them but there was a quiet depth to Walltur and she was sure he'd be a friend. "No one asks me much and he doesn't offer much, not a bad fit." she thought to herself managing a smile.
She tapped him on the shoulder and gently cleared her throat hoping not to alarm him.
"I don't mean to bother you, but we haven't really met. You seem to have that thing with you everywhere you go. Can I see what you're working on? If it's private I won't bother you about it."

As Mo walks past Walltur, the large man gave him a quick grunt, some acknowledgement of his greeting. As Ginger clears her throat, he put his pencil down and turn to her. Listening carefully to her words, his expression softened. She had really come through and reached out to him after their miss a few days ago. He extended a large hand to her to shake.
"Walltur."
After shaking, he returns his hands to his notebook. Shrugging his shoulders, he slides the notebook closer to Ginger to observe. This drawing was a scene of rolling hills. At their peaks appeared to be watchtowers, rough dirt and wild grass underneath. As the hills slope down, fields of grain bend in the wind, creating waves that collide and disperse between the hills. A trail cuts through the field in the center, with two figures in the distance moving towards the horizon. Walltur looked up to Ginger, gauging her reaction.
"September."
A tall man in a lab coat marched into the room. All the test subjects could recognize one of Vester's many assistants. Making the rounds to everyone in the room, he hands each person a manila envelope with a large V stamped across the front. These were new orders, new assignments.
Calmly accepting the folder, he removed the contents and began to read. Seeing himself being named a captain gave him a small smile, but then he had to reread the rosters. After triple checking the names, his spirit visibly weakened. His eyes dart across the room, remembering the company he was in the presence of. Taking a deep breath, Walltur straightened himself to his full height and gave them all a nod.
"Team."

Looking over the detailed landscape before her Ginger could not help but be impressed. Ginger smiled softly, the scene left her feeling wistful. Such clear planning and thought had gone in to the drawing it hardly seemed to be something as simple as a doodle meant to pass the time.
Having received a similar envelope before the last match, Ginger knew what it meant for Walltur. She straightened her back dramatically and saluted him as she had Mo. "I'm with ya, Cap'n!" She winked at him and sat down close beside him hoping it wouldn't make him uncomfortable. Ginger's eyes were drawn once again to the drawing in front of her, "That's talent." she thought to herself.
"September. It's lovely, Walltur." She paused unsure how far she could or even should pry so early in the conversation. After a moment she asked, "Someone you know?"

Walltur's face brightened up a little bit with Ginger's friendliness, glad to know there wasn't any hard feelings between them after the last game. As Ginger sat closer, he wasn't exactly sure what to make of it. Almost everyone kept their distance from his large form, so a little less space was unusual. He relaxed though, she was obviously interested in his art and this would afford her a better view. He moved his finger to one of the figures in the distance, standing just a few lines shorter than the other one.
"Booker."
He hadn't really had a chance to describe the two of their travels around the world, but they haven't been at the test facility forever. This was one of the last legs of their journey, in one of their many periods between employment. There was rumors of a facility across the valley, promising new work for strong and willing participants. Alas, with his communication skills being as they were, this was as close to telling a story as he could ever manage. Feeling pride in his work, he looks back to Ginger, not wanting to hog the spotlight of their 'conversation'. Walltur raises an eyebrow and nods towards Ginger.
"Traveler?"

Ginger grinned. "He really isn't that hard to talk to." She had not been concerned that he would be but she was relieved to find she had been correct in assuming that his silence was not due to an unfriendly nature. What it was caused by she had no way of knowing. "That's half the fun in getting to know someone."
She sighed heavily and relaxed into her seat before answering. "No, I'm no big traveler. This is as far away from, well I guess it's home... that I have ever been. That's not saying much, it was only one train ride. I guess two if I'm desperate to sound fancy and count the connection. It's one of the reasons I took this gig to be honest. Nothing really interesting ever happened back there anyway." Leaning forward again she studied his sketch intently. "I got this job, and I just left one day. Didn't tell anyone, just packed up and went away. I'm not totally sure why." She shrugged and smiled again at Walltur, forcing the serious expression she had been wearing to leave her face.
She reached across to the other figure on the page, pointing to the slightly taller one beside "Booker". Careful not to touch the page and smudge his work she looked up at her new friend and asked, "Walltur?"

Walltur listened to her response, finding some of her words to be a bit on the vague side. Although, who wouldn't when talking to a new friend? He always thought it was important to make your words count, even before his... difficulties. If nothing else, her words did engage him. He nods his head to her last question, knocking on his own chest with his hand twice. Him and Booker have traveled far and as close as two friends could be... at least Walltur would like to think so. Drawing himself up, he turns back to Ginger, not quite sure what to ask next.
After a moment he raises one finger, asking for some time. Flipping to a new page in the notebook, he slowly begins to trace out words. It takes him several tries to get them right, had to erase it a few times before it made sense. He slides the notebook back to her, with the following scrawled on the page:
do you like it here.?
Walltur looks back to her, hoping she doesn't mind the delay in response.

She pulled her knees up to her chest and waited for Walltur to finish whatever he was doing in his notebook. Resting her chin on one hand she pulled funny faces behind him as he worked. It wasn't the most mature habit, but she found she never could really shake it. When he was done, she composed herself quickly and read what he had been working on.
"I didn't think I would after the other day. But," she added, "it's getting better now." She smiled at him. "I thought Booker and I got along fine, but he disappeared and after the beating I gave him he may be just as pleased with me as Quinn is. You definitely know them better than I do but I'm not convinced I'm a fan favorite with your former teammates. The others have been lovely though, I'm a bit sad we had our roles switched but I'm glad you're on my team." She looked out the window behind the couches and said, "I still haven't even left this damn complex yet! I was all pumped to travel and then immediately stayed put." She let out a small laugh.
She looked at him, studying his face for a moment before speaking again.
"Walltur, I think you and I could be good friends."

Walltur was too busy working on his writing to notice the funny faces being made. As he turned around to her, he caught the tail end of one as she returned to a neutral expression. He chuckled while sliding the paper to her.
Listening to Ginger describe Booker and Quinn, and their possible opinion of her, he averted his gaze and slumped his head slightly. He didn't like being caught in the middle, especially if it meant having to confirm uncomfortable thoughts. He smiled a bit as she expressed her appreciation of their current situation, joining her gaze to looking out the window to the surrounding town. Everyone should see the town at least once; maybe there could be a group outing once they had completed some business.
Turning back to her, his face warmed at her words. Walltur didn't know much about Ginger, but she's given a good impression.
"Yes."
Flipping through the pages from his new assignment, he draws out the sheet that includes the roster for a new team. Motioning to Mo to come closer, he takes his pencil and circles the section of the form that reads 'Team Name:______'. He turned to Ginger and Mo, raising his eyebrows as he spoke.
"Ideas?"

Mo wandered over and took a seat next to Walltur, smiling. "So you're the one we'll be following into battle. Nice." He hadn't really wanted to interrupt the conversation earlier so he head hung back for a hot second to let them get acquainted. "Not sure how we can top Cuddlepuffs but we can sure try. What about...the Snare? Something like that." Sitting next to Walltur was kind of a trip simply because of how huge the dude was. Mo was maybe 5'8" on a good day and 100 pounds soaking wet and man, he was a little intimidated and he couldn't lie.

Ginger beamed at Walltur. "Good!"
She sat back thinking what their new team name could be. "I really liked being a Banshee, but new people means a new name I suppose..." she thought to herself. "I don't really know what we could be, we feel a little hodgepodge to me, made up of different teams as we are. Maybe we could combine our names for a new word?" She thought for a moment before continuing.
"Mochwagi's? Probably a lame suggestion."

As Mo took a seat next to Walltur and introduced himself, the large man smiled and snickered. Sometimes being reminded of his size and strength can be a good thing. Listening to Mo' suggestion, he gave the name a slow nod. Its a bit unorthodox, but who's to say what is around here?
Walltur noticed Mo's discomfort around his presence. Its to be expected, but he tried his best to make those who gave him an honest chance more comfortable. He made eye contact with Mo, his expression softened and warm. He put a large hand on Mo's far shoulder, giving him a small shake and a wide smile.
"Welcome."
He listened to Ginger's words, finding the suggestion to be a bit unwieldy. He liked the idea of naming it something that represents themselves. A combination of many things, yet exuding an undeniable power and presence. Remembering the Banshee's otherworldly reference, Walltur took a stab at a mythological suggestion.
"Chimeras?"

"Chimeras! I love it. Good teamwork on that one." she said and winked at him. "The Snare is a bit odd to me but I'd be happy with it if we don't all like being The Chimeras."
She turned to Mo, "What do you think? We still have to let Charlie know. I'm not sure where he is. Late night, you think?"
